Wednesday's Writing Workout!

On the weekends, prompts keep my creativity warmed up so I don’t “pull a muscle” on Monday morning. During the week, prompts jump-start my writing routine. Consider using your own characters and settings for these prompts. You might come up with dazzling new ideas for your WiP! All you’ll need for these exercises is an open mind and your writing equipment. Remember to drink lots of water and stretch!

Start it up!
Exercise 1
You’ve invented a soft drink that not only tastes great but improves a person’s ability to [fill in the blank]! Write an advertisement for your new soda.
Ramp it up!
Exercise 2: from Writer’s Digest
Have two characters, a husband and wife with children, disagree about what to do about their beautiful house near a toxic dump.
Burn it up!
Exercise 3
Remember the movie The Island (2005)? What would happen if you met your own clone? Or, what would happen if your character met her own clone?
Cool it down.
Begin with “I remember.” Write lots of small memories or fall into one large memory. If stuck, just repeat the phrase “I remember” again and keep going. (This is great to do for brainstorming new ideas!)
Every Wednesday I post prompts and exercises for your “writing workout” so keep checking back! Happy writing!!!

I want to do the soda pop advertisement thing! What to do it about... how about your sex life? No.... I don't think I could write about that. Well, I guess I could make it funny.

I'm excited now!

Love the picture

Jen- Today (Friday) I picked up my nephew from kindergarten I was teaching him Harry Potter lingo. Alohomora, Lumos and Accio were his favorite spells! Have a great Harry Potter weekend, Jen!

Melissa- LOL, that could be so funny! Hope you do the prompt!

Shannon- Thanks for stopping by! I hope it's not too late to stop by your blog and offer some input. I'm sorry, I didn't make it around the blogosphere yesterday. :(

Stina- Yes, you should!!! You might come up with something new and unexpected for your wip! :)

Kathi- It's one of the first writing books I ever read. I love it! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Laura- Me too! It's amazing how much I recall when I'm writing down memories. NaNo is going well! My novel is a mess, but my first draft is usually a mess anyway, whether or not it's NaNoWriMo! I should be finished before Thanksgiving. :)
