NaNoWriMo and Hiatus!

I’ve been blogging for 19 months, and I have yet to take a blogging break. I’m definitely overdue for one. This is the perfect time to be on hiatus since, at the moment, I am feverishly banging my head against the keyboard hoping a novel will fall out of it for National Novel Writing Month!
I think Wavy Lines needs a boost in looks and content, too. Changes are grand! But I’m just not sure how I want to revitalize my blog. So this break will be a good time to brainstorm on that.
I’ll still be lurking and commenting, but I won’t be posting. Probably. Unless something comes up and I feel like it. But most likely I’ll be stuffing my face with chocolate writing my novel this month and enjoying what you have to say on your blogs and letting my blog take a much-needed rest!
Have you taken a blogcation yet? Are you participating in NaNoWriMo? How have these past three days been for you so far? Please buddy me: I’m Sunshine21
See you in December! :)

Good luck and hang in there!

I take blogvacations when I go on vacation (like next week). It's necessary to keep you from burning out.

Have fun with NaNo. :D

NaNo - No
Blogvacation - Yes! (multiple times)

In my case, a break from blogging was really beneficial. I came back re-energized and re-focused. On the flip side, you do lose some momentum and a few followers. Overall - the break was what my writing (not blogging) needed. Go luck with NaNo and enjoy your break! :)

Good luck with NaNo and the revamp! You picked a good time, since November and December are two months when lots of bloggers take a time off. :-)

Best of luck with Nano! And I think after 19 months you've earned a vacation. Happy writing!

Laura Pauling said...

Good luck with the writing! I've taken breaks for holidays or vacations when I know i"m not going to be around to participate.

Good luck with your NaNo, revamping your blog and break. Happy NaNoing (new word I coined just for you), Laura.

Teresa- Thank you and have a great weekend!

Stina- That's good thinking. I haven't been on a true vacation since my Honeymoon three years ago, ha!

DL-Thank you and have a great weekend!

Misha- That's so true. It's nice to get away from the internet for awhile!

Bluestocking- Thank you! Happy writing to you too!

Laura- Thanks! The holidays are a great time to take a break. Not as many bloggers are hanging around.

Rachna- Thank you! So far so good with NaNoing. Have a great weekend!

CN- Thank you! Have a great weekend!

Keep us updated on your progress :) I'm sooo excited for you. I bet your MS will turn out awesome.

I had a ball doing Nano last year.

Good luck with NaNo and revamping your blog.

I've never taken a blogcation. If I'm out of town, I schedule auto-posts so that I'll at least have one weekly post go up.

Good luck with NaNo! I'll look forward to your return :)

I keep meaning to take a break, but it makes me realize how much i look forward to being around my people. Enjoy your break!!

Laura Marcella said...

Elisabeth- Thanks for your kind words! This is my third year doing NaNo. I love it!

Medeia- That's a good way to do it! Then you always have something new each week.

Susanna- Thank you very much! I'll still be reading blogs and commenting, just not putting up any new posts until December.

Jolene- I know what you mean! That's why I'll still be reading blogs and commenting, just not putting up any new posts until December.

Have a great break, Laura! You definitely deserve to take a little time off and focus on other things :) It's always good to redesign a blog too - a new fresh face for the holidays/new year and all that. Good luck with everything and get some R&R, girl!

Julie Musil said...

Oooh, good luck to you! With the writing, of course, not the stuffing face with chocolate. Not that I'd ever do that. Ever!

Damn Vtac...never knew you were such a slacker!!

jk, write that novel! Win! Threepeat!

good luck with that Laura, I think it's a great thing you are doing. Keep up the good work. :)
Thanks for popping over again. I still haven't figured out the buttons but as you said its probably Photoshop or something similar.x

You deserve some time off. Hope that novel falls out of your head soon. ;)

I'm trying to revamp my blog as well. Yours has always been so appealing and fun. Good luck!

Have a great blog hiatus!! I'll miss your quote days for time time being :) I'm sure you will churn out a great novel!

I LOVE the zebra pattern.

I've added you as a buddy on NaNo. Hope you are doing better at your efforts than I am. But no blogcation for me. I'm still plugging away at the expense of my novel writing.

Julie D.- Thank you very much! I still have no idea how to redesign my blog. I think my OS is too old and I don't have the cool design programs every one else has. (My Mac is 7.5 years old and i still have Tiger, yeesh!)

Julie M.- Been there, doing that!

JHara- I knooow! Who am I? What's wrong with me??

Eve- I hope you figure out how to make one of those badges!

Kathi- Thank you so saying so! It will still be colorful and fun and have a zebra theme. One of the things I definitely want to do is make my blog's name stand out and be bigger, but I can't with this template for some reason.

Saumya- No worries, three Mondays from now quote days will be back! I've got some really terrific ones lined up. :)

Elizabeth- Hello and welcome to Wavy Lines! I appreciate your kind words. Thanks for the comment and the follow! I hope you're having a great week!

Lee- Thanks! I'll head on over and add you to my buddies, too!

Enjoy your blogcation. Yes I have taken a couple and found they were very beneficial especially after the frenxy of the A-Z blogginf challenge.Good luck with Nano. x

Shelley Sly said...

Wow, Laura! Blogging all this time and not one break. You're a hard worker. Definitely take some time to relax, enjoy writing and the real world. Good luck with Nano!

Talli Roland said...

Happy blogcation!

I do take blogging breaks when I go on vacation, or when I'm in deep edit mode. I think it's good to have a breather every once in awhile.

Good luck with NaNo!

Jayne said...

I do take blogcations (blogidays?!) here and there, I do them so often at the moment that they are never really officially announced. Sometimes life swells elsewhere and then it ebbs and you can blog again. :)

I hope you get tons of writing done and when you come back to blogging you will be all revitalised!

Laura Marcella said...

Madeleine- Thank you very much!

Shelley- I sure am enjoying the break, but I'm looking forward to posting again. This break has given me some new ideas!

Talli- Thank you! I agree. It's been nice taking a break.

Jayne- That's so true. Real Life is more important than blogging all the time.

Jennifer Shirk said...

Yes, you are very overdue for a blogcation!!

I take them here and there too. In fact, I should take more of them!

Good luck with NaNo!!

Michelle Teacress said...

ooo, I'm excited to see what you do with your blog.

Good luck with NaNo. I'll cheer you from the sidelines. :)

PS The way I take a break from my blog is by pre-scheduling several posts at once. Then it looks like I'm still here, which I sort of am because I still read other blogs and comment.

Carla said...

19 months...that's amazing! I tend to take one whenever my kids get sick or I get behind on my other projects. ;) Good luck with Nano! I'm cheering for you!

Sara Bell said...

I, too am NaNo-ing and it's already been a CRAZY November for me!

Laura Marcella said...

Jennifer- I hear ya! I miss posting, but sometimes it's been nice not having to wonder what to post each day! :)

Michelle- Probably nothing right now, LoL. I don't have the right programs to do something new bc my Mac is so old! Pre-scheduling posts is a good idea. I haven't done that yet.

Carla- Those are good reasons! Thanks for the good wishes. :)

Sara- Ooo, what's your NaNo name? Buddy me so I can buddy you and we can cheer each other on! Good luck and have fun. :)

YAY! Hope you're writing your butt off! Good luck!

Laura Marcella said...

Lisa & Laura- I sure did write my butt off! Good thing, too, since I'm sure my butt will be back with a vengeance with all the inevitable holiday calories coming my way. :) Congrats on your new baby, Laura, and your new nephew, Lisa!
