D is for Daring

Sometimes we’re afraid to push ourselves, to really reach as far as we can, because we’re afraid that when we succeed, the world will ask more of us.
{Maya Angelou}
You have to trust the process. You have to take a free fall into the unknown and let it happen. You have to write every book like it’s the first one, and let it be a little dangerous.
{Elizabeth Berg}
Talent is helpful in writing, but guts are absolutely essential.
{Jessamyn West}
Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
{G.K. Chesterton}
Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.
{Erich Fromm}
You feel the call. That's the important thing. Now answer it as fully as you can. Take the risk to let all that is in you, out. Escape into the open.
{Elizabeth Berg}
And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.
{Sylvia Plath}
One of the few things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, right away every time. Do not hoard what seems good for a later place in the book, or for another book; give it, give it all, give it now.
{Annie Dillard}
What is your favorite inspirational or motivating quote about writing?

Great daring quotes but I agree. YOu need to step out of the comfort box to really write well.

One of my favorite quotes is by Jack London (you've used it) "You can't wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club."

Great quotes and choice for the letter D! I think my favorite quote about writing is:

“Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout with some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.”
― George Orwell

While I adore quotes, I can never remember them! You've got some fantastic ones listed here, though. I'll have to write some down.

It's funny how what you consider being daring loses some of its edge over time. That's why we need to reevaluate ourselves constantly, to bring out that quality! :)

Loved:

I also like:
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”

One of my favorites is the one that's motivating me to finish my novel right now:
