A is for Amusement

Those of you who’ve been following my blog for a while know I post quotes for writers every Monday. This month for the A–Z Blogfest, I’ll be posting quotes on Wednesdays and Saturdays aaaand on this random Sunday! Whether you’re writing alphabet posts or just reading them (or most likely doing both!), April Fools Day seems like the perfect time to post some amusing quotes on writing to get you all smiling as you embark on this crazy awesome challenge!
I write because I believe my words can change the world. Every paragraph, every sentence, every syllable I construct is written with the express intention of changing people and their families. I hope as you read this you are in fact changing and I hope you’ll let your families read this so they can change too.
Of course I’m kidding.
I write for cash and because as a child I was told I had excellent penmanship.
{Doug Ellin}
When I was a young boy they called me a liar. Now that I'm all grown up, they call me a writer.
{Isaac Singer}
Sure, it's simple writing for kids…just as simple as bringing them up.
{Ursula K. LeGuin}
I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.
{Groucho Marx}
Most writers can write books faster than publishers can write checks.
{Richard Curtis}
I just sit at a typewriter and curse a bit.
{P.G. Wodehouse}
No passion in the world is equal to the passion to alter someone else's draft.
{H.G. Wells}
I never write 'metropolis' for seven cents when I can write 'city' and get paid the same.
{Mark Twain}
Never assume that a rejection of your stuff is also a rejection of you as a person…unless it’s accompanied by a punch in the nose.
{Ron Goulart}
If you can write each day, do it, and meet a quota. Minimum 350 words a day. A baboon can do 350 words a day. Don’t be shown up by a baboon.
{James Scott Bell}
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
{Marty Feldman}
A writer is a person for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.
{Thomas Mann}
Are you participating in this month’s A to Z Blogging Challenge? What is you favorite funny quote about writing?
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend, Zigzaggers! I’m looking forward to reading your alphabet posts and meeting new blog buddies this month! :)

I liked the one by Isacc Singer. Might have been better to tell him he had quite the imagination, rather than call him a liar.

I love Singers quote the best. I lied so much as a child. Those memories serve me well.
