Y is for You, the Writer. You, You, You!

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. ... No artist is pleased. [There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.
{Martha Graham}
One of the things that makes me keep writing is the fear that one day I won’t be a writer. And then what would I be? This is what I love to do, this is my dream come true.
{Harlan Coben}
When we write from the inside out rather than the outside in, when we write about what most concerns us rather than about that we feel might sell, we often write so well and so persuasively that the market responds to our efforts.
{Julia Cameron}
So this is always the key: you have to write the book you love, the book that's alive in your heart. That's the one you have to write.
{Lurlene McDaniel}
In the end, a first-class you is better than a second-class version of somebody else. Write books that can’t be clumped with a bunch of similar ones.
{David Morrell}
You can have anything you want if you want it desperately enough. You must want it with an exuberance that erupts through the skin and joins the energy that created the world.
{Sheila Graham}
Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music–the world is so rich, simple throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.
{Henry Miller}
Since you are like no other being ever created since the beginning of time, you are incomparable.
{Brenda Ueland}
Celebrate books, celebrate ideas, celebrate imagination, celebrate writers, celebrate yourself! Hope you’re having a happy weekend, Zigzaggers! :)

Great quotes, but the most inspiring was re-visiting the Rejections Of Famous Writers. I should print it and post it on my fridge! (Is that schadenfreud?)
