Monday Quote Day!

The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.
{Napoleon Hill}

The first draft is just you telling yourself the story.
{Terry Pratchett}

If you have to pay the bills, and you write something you're not proud of, use a pen-name for that.
{Dean Koontz}

Write quickly and you will never write well; write well, and you will soon write quickly.
{Marcus Fabius Quintilianus}

The essential key for writing is to write regularly–like it or not–great ideas come often by writing, releasing the subconscious. Waiting for inspiration and ideas will not work, but it does help to have a notebook with you all the time for sudden brainstorms or inspiration.
{Robert Marc Friedman}

I decided that adventure was the best way to learn about writing.
{Lloyd Alexander}

I have a theory: If the writer is bored, the reader will be, too. If the writer is having a blast, and is 100 percent invested in and committed to his or her fictional world, the reader will be, too.
{Karen Marie Moning}

Everybody has a secret world inside of them. I mean everybody. All of the people in the whole world, I mean everybody—no matter how dull and boring they are on the outside. Inside them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds…Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands, maybe.
{Neil Gaiman}

Happy Monday and happy writing, Zigzaggers!

Haha...I like Koontz's quote. Gaiman has a good one, too. He sounds so sure of his statement. How can we not buy into it?

I love the one about the writer getting bored... that's why I juggle multiple projects and work on the one I'm most motivated for at the moment!

Yes, a bored writer makes for a bored reader.

In fact, in my opinion, boredom with the writing is a main reason writers have "writing block".

The Terry Pratchett quote is one of my faves. I always repeat that to myself when I'm having trouble with drafting.

Fantastic quotes as always, Laura! I find the Terry Pratchett one very comforting - I can write a first draft if it's just me talking to myself :)

Prachett hit the nail on the head.

Moning is so right.

Great quotes. Thanks for sharing them.
