Laura
laurel-crowned, lady of victory
…in classical times, a crown was made from the leaves of the bay laurel for heroes and champions as a symbol of honor, victory, and distinction.
Marcella
brave, little warrior
…associated with Mars, the Roman god of fertility, which identifies with the Greek god Ares, god of war. The name is also linked with St. Marcella (4th century), a cultivated woman of strength and ability.
Laura Marcella is the youngest of four (1 sister, 2 brothers). Her childhood summers were spent in a pop-up camper traveling all over the United States with her family. She attended Catholic school from kindergarten through twelfth grade and went to a Pennsylvania university. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English writing and a minor in Technical/Professional Communications. She married her childhood best friend.
Laura loves to read. She’s a word nerd. She has a malfunctioning sense of direction. She can add, subtract, multiply, and divide small numbers and that’s the extent of her math prowess. (She apologizes to past math teachers. You tried. She tried. It is what it is.)
Laura’s authoress dreams manifested when she learned how to read. She loved books so much that writing her own seemed like a natural step. She wants to write everything because she loves reading everything! Laura mostly loves children's books, middle-grade novels especially, and her long-term goal is to be a children's author. But she wants to write for other audiences and in other genres, too. Right now she’s writing short stories, submitting them, and collecting rejections. She’s also working on a middle-grade novel and a flash fiction collection.

• She’s never had a cavity. Brushing and flossing after meals (and chocolate desserts) really is worth it!
• She has six delightful niephlings (4 nieces & 2 nephews) and is the godmother to her best friend's son. They’re lovely, sweet, smart, talented, hilarious, and too stinking adorable. They’re also (arguably) the best birth control on the market.
• She first saw her husband when they were six. They became friends in 2nd grade. He gave her a rock. She still has it. Their friendship strengthened. They fell in love. They began dating in twelfth grade. They married five years later.
• She loves ankle socks. They must be bold and brilliant. Stripes. Polka dots. Stars. Hearts. Reindeer. Florescent. Plaid. Whatever, as long as they’re colorful and fun!
• Office supply stores, bookstores and libraries are pieces of heaven on earth. She’s sure of it.
